TESCO (Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company) handles electricity distribution across all 7 merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Around 800,000 to 1 million consumers in Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan get their monthly bills through TESCO. Every one is checkable online in seconds at TescoBillCheck — from anywhere in Pakistan..

TESCO covers all 7 merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. These areas were part of FATA before the 2018 constitutional merger with KP.

What is TESCO?

TESCO (Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company) is Pakistan's newest DISCO. It was established to manage electricity distribution in the 7 tribal districts that merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the 25th Constitutional Amendment of 2018. Before the merger, these areas — formerly known as FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) — were served by tribal area electricity arrangements that operated outside the mainstream national DISCO system.

TESCO now covers Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. Its consumer base spreads across mountainous terrain along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan — one of the most geographically challenging distribution environments of any DISCO in Pakistan.

Being the newest DISCO means TESCO is still building out its digital billing infrastructure. New connection registrations can take longer to appear online than other DISCOs, and the billing rollout is more recent. But for existing registered connections, the 14-digit reference number system works exactly like every other Pakistani DISCO — check it at TescoBillCheck.

TESCO's helpline is 091-111-786-786 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). For power faults anywhere in the merged tribal districts, call 118 — 24 hours. The official portal is tesco.com.pk.

TESCO vs PESCO — which one covers you?

This is the most common confusion with KP electricity bills. Both DISCOs operate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But they cover completely different geographic territories.

Simple rule: district decides your DISCOPESCO covers the 25 settled districts of KP — Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Dir, Chitral, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan and the rest. TESCO covers only the 7 merged tribal districts (formerly FATA) — Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. If your address is in a settled KP district, check at echeckbills.pk/pesco-bill-check. If it's in a merged tribal district, use TescoBillCheck.

Not sure? Enter your reference number at echeckbills.pk and select the DISCO from the list. If the reference number doesn't match, try the other. The billing databases don't overlap — a TESCO reference number won't return results on PESCO's system and vice versa.

Also note: Hazara division (Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Battagram) is covered by HAZECO — a separate DISCO from both PESCO and TESCO. Check at Hazeco-Bill-Check if your address is in Hazara.

How to check your TESCO bill online — 4 steps

You need one thing: the 14-digit reference number from any printed TESCO bill. You can do this from Peshawar, Islamabad, Karachi — anywhere.

Step 01

Open the TESCO bill check portal

Any browserMobile and desktopWorks on 2G

Go to TescoBillCheck. Nothing to install or create. Works on any phone.

Why echeckbills.pk handles tribal area connections bettertesco.com.pk is the official source but can slow during peak hours. echeckbills.pk uses server-side caching on top of the official PITC gateway and stays fast — useful across the tribal belt where mobile internet speeds vary between main towns and surrounding villages.

Works on 2G. This matters because 4G is only available in main district towns like Parachinar, Miranshah, Khar and Wana — not in many surrounding villages and tehsils across the 7 merged districts.

Step 02

Enter your 14-digit TESCO reference number

Only required field

Type your reference number exactly as printed. One wrong digit returns no result — or pulls a completely different account.

Where to find itTop-right corner of any printed TESCO bill, labeled "Reference No." or "Ref. No." — exactly 14 digits. Also above the barcode at the bottom of the bill slip. Some older TESCO formats call it the Consumer ID.

Lost the bill? Call TESCO at 091-111-786-786. Give your meter number or full address — Parachinar, Khar, Miranshah locality — and they'll pull your reference number on the call. You can also ask a family member in the district to check the physical meter box for the meter number.

Step 03

Click Check Bill — results in under 5 seconds

Live PITC dataReal-time billing

Your full TESCO bill loads: consumer name, address, units consumed, current charges, arrears, due date and the after-due-date amount with 10% penalty already calculated.

Screenshot immediately. If you're in Peshawar or Islamabad managing a tribal district property, WhatsApp the screenshot to a family member near a TESCO franchise to confirm the amount before you pay digitally.

Step 04

Download your free duplicate bill PDF

Free — unlimited copiesAccepted everywhere

Click "Download Duplicate Bill." A print-ready PDF generates in seconds at zero cost. No limit on copies.

Printing across the merged districtsAny photocopy shop in district headquarters towns — Khar (Bajaur), Parachinar (Kurram), Miranshah (North Waziristan), Wana (South Waziristan), Gharlanai (Mohmand) — charges Rs. 5-10 per page. Black-and-white is accepted at all TESCO franchises, banks, post offices and Nadra e-Sahulat centers. The "Duplicate" header changes nothing at the counter.

If you're paying from outside the district via JazzCash, you don't need to print anything. Reference number in, payment out. Done from Islamabad or anywhere else in Pakistan.

What your TESCO bill actually shows

The online bill gives you more than just a total. Every field matters.

  • Consumer Name and Address — confirms you pulled the right account. Useful if managing bills across multiple properties in different tribal districts.

  • Reference Number (Consumer ID) — your 14-digit account identifier. Stays the same for the lifetime of the connection. Printed again on the downloaded PDF for counter use.

  • Billing month — which month this bill covers. TESCO reads meters on a rolling schedule. Main district towns get bills in week 1-2. Remote tehsils and villages across the tribal belt can lag to week 3-4.

  • Previous and current meter readings — actual kWh figures. Subtract one from the other to verify your unit count. If the jump looks wrong, photograph your meter before calling TESCO.

  • Units consumed — the number that determines your NEPRA tariff slab. Everything flows from this figure.

  • Energy charges — base cost before taxes. What NEPRA's per-unit slab rates apply to directly.

  • FAC (Fuel Adjustment Charge) — changes every month based on Pakistan's grid fuel mix and LNG import costs. In cold Kurram and Waziristan winters when electric heaters drive grid demand, FAC can add Rs. 500-1,800 to a bill that looks normal at base tariff. Track it at our FPA Tracker.

  • NJ Surcharge (Neelum Jhelum) — Rs. 0.10-0.35 per unit on every TESCO bill. Collected to repay Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project financing. Most consumers see the line but don't know what it means.

  • FC Surcharge (Financing Cost) — a per-unit charge covering power sector debt. Appears on every TESCO bill as a NEPRA-mandated line item.

  • Electricity Duty (KP) — a KP provincial tax on electricity charges.

  • GST at 17% — applied across all DISCOs. No residential exemptions.

  • TV Licence Fee — Rs. 35 per month on every residential bill regardless of TV ownership.

  • Arrears — unpaid balance from previous months carried forward.

  • Total payable amount — what you actually owe. All of the above combined.

  • Due date — pay before this to avoid the 10% late surcharge.

  • After-due-date amount — total with 10% late penalty calculated and printed.

The FAC is the line that catches most tribal area consumers off guard. Parachinar in Kurram sits at 1,800 meters — winters are long and cold, heaters run for months, and the FAC spikes alongside grid demand. NEPRA announces it monthly but no individual notification reaches consumers. Bookmark our FPA Tracker to see each month's figure before your bill arrives.

What is a TESCO duplicate bill?

A duplicate bill is a reprint of your current TESCO electricity bill. Same reference number, same billing month, same amounts, same due date. TESCO generates it from its database the moment you click download at TescoBillCheck.

Every bank, TESCO franchise, Nadra e-Sahulat center and post office across the merged tribal districts that accepts TESCO bills accepts a printed duplicate. Print it in black-and-white. That's enough.

You can print as many copies as needed. For previous months, visit your local TESCO subdivision office with your reference number. Their internal system holds billing history and staff can print old bills on the spot.

Paying from Peshawar or Islamabad?

Many tribal district residents work or study in Peshawar, Islamabad or other cities. You can check and pay your TESCO bill from anywhere in Pakistan — JazzCash works nationwide. Enter the 14-digit reference number, confirm the amount and pay. Payment posts to TESCO's system within 2-4 hours. No travel to the district required.

FAC (monthly, Rs. 500-1,800 in tribal belt winters) + NJ Surcharge + FC Surcharge + KP Electricity Duty + GST 17% + Rs. 35 TV licence + fixed charges stack on top. Track monthly FAC at our FPA Tracker. Estimate your complete total at our bill calculator.

Parachinar in Kurram sits at 1,800 meters altitude. Winters are cold enough for sustained electric heater use from November through March. A consumer at 212 units pays Rs. 10.06 on all 212 — Rs. 2,133 in energy charges before FAC and taxes. Going from 196 to 215 units with an electric heater running 2 extra hours a day costs Rs. 800-1,200 more on that billing month.

How to file a TESCO complaint

Billing errors and meter reading disputes happen across all DISCOs. Here's the step-by-step for TESCO consumers across the 7 merged tribal districts.

⚡ Step-by-step: filing a TESCO billing complaint

Step 1 — Call TESCO first. Dial 091-111-786-786 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). Give your 14-digit reference number and describe the issue — overcharging, meter reading error, wrong consumer category or unexplained surcharge. Note the complaint number they assign.

Step 2 — Visit your subdivision office. If the call doesn't resolve it, take your meter photo and reference number to your local TESCO subdivision office in the district headquarters town. Staff can access billing history and raise a correction.

Step 3 — Escalate to NEPRA. If TESCO doesn't resolve your complaint within 30 days, file formally at NEPRA's consumer complaint portal at nepra.org.pk. NEPRA can compel TESCO to respond and issue corrections.

Pay first, dispute second. Withholding payment adds the 10% late surcharge to an existing dispute. Pay the bill, keep the receipt, then file the complaint.

TESCO load shedding complaints

For extended unscheduled outages anywhere in the merged tribal districts, call the 24-hour fault line: 118. For scheduled load shedding timetables, check the official tesco.com.pk portal.

Common errors and how to fix them

Error: "No record found"

Two causes: a digit error in the reference number, or the current month's bill hasn't been generated yet. TESCO is a newer DISCO still building out its billing infrastructure. Meter reads roll out across 7 districts on a weekly schedule. Main towns get bills in week 1-2. Remote tehsils and villages can lag to week 3-4.

New connection recently installed in a tribal district?

New TESCO meter registrations can take 8-10 weeks to appear in the online system — longer than most other DISCOs. TESCO is still integrating its digital billing infrastructure across the 7 merged districts. If your meter was recently fitted in Bajaur, South Waziristan or remote areas of Khyber, this lag is common. Contact your local TESCO office with the meter number to confirm registration status.

Portal slow or not loading

Try before 9am or after 9pm. Or switch to TescoBillCheck — it uses server-side caching and handles patchy connections better, particularly useful across the tribal belt's variable mobile network coverage.

I paid but my bill still shows outstanding

Online payments take 2-4 hours. Wait 6 hours then recheck. If still outstanding after 24 hours, contact your bank first with the transaction reference, then call TESCO at 091-111-786-786 with both your reference number and the bank transaction ID.

8 ways to lower your TESCO bill

  • Replace electric heaters with gas or wood heating in winter — the merged tribal districts have Pakistan's coldest winters outside of Chitral. Parachinar in Kurram sits at 1,800 meters. A 2kW electric heater running 10 hours a day burns 60 units per month. Switching to a gas heater or bukhari (wood stove) for 5 winter months saves 250-300 units per billing cycle — the single biggest bill reduction available to most TESCO consumers.

  • Photograph your meter on the 1st and 15th every month — mid-cycle readings tell you your trajectory. In Parachinar or Miranshah winters, units accumulate fast with heaters and lights running long hours. Catching a 175-unit mid-month reading early lets you reduce consumption before crossing 200 — and the higher slab boundary.

  • Stay under 200 units wherever possible — crossing from 200 to 201 units moves all your units to the Rs. 14.01 rate instead of Rs. 10.06. In a cold mountain winter, going from 196 to 215 units costs Rs. 800-1,200 more on that one bill at base tariff alone.

  • Replace all bulbs with LEDs — many tribal district households still use older incandescent and CFL bulbs. A 100W incandescent versus a 9W LED running 8 hours daily saves roughly 25 units per month per bulb. Replace 4 bulbs and save 100 units — the gap between the 101-200 slab and the lightest slab for a low-usage household.

  • Use the free bill calculator before each billing period — our electricity bill calculator lets you enter your current units mid-month and the current FAC to see your projected total. Run it on the 15th of each month. It's free and takes 2 minutes.

  • Apply for TESCO net metering — TESCO accepts net metering applications for solar panel installations. The tribal belt receives strong solar irradiance, particularly in South Waziristan and Khyber district. A 5kW system can reduce annual bills by Rs. 50,000-80,000 for heavier consumers. Apply through NEPRA's net metering portal.

  • Pay from anywhere — JazzCash is free and nationwide — if you're studying or working in Peshawar, Islamabad or Karachi, you can pay your tribal district TESCO bill from there. JazzCash → Bill Payments → Electricity → TESCO → enter reference number → pay. Free, takes 3 minutes, reflects in 2-4 hours. No need to send money home for the bill.

  • Pay 2 days before the due date — every month — a 10% late surcharge on a Rs. 3,000-7,000 TESCO bill is Rs. 300-700 wasted for a short delay. Set a phone reminder 2 days before the due date printed on every TESCO bill. Do it now, before closing this page.

Frequently asked questions

TESCO bill questions

How do I check my TESCO bill online?

Go to TescoBillCheck, enter your 14-digit TESCO reference number and click Check Bill. Your current bill appears in under 5 seconds. No login needed. Works on any phone, even 2G. You can check from anywhere in Pakistan — no need to be in the tribal district.

Where is the reference number on a TESCO bill?

Top-right corner of any printed TESCO bill, labeled "Reference No." or "Ref. No." — exactly 14 digits. Also above the barcode at the bottom of the bill slip. Some older TESCO formats call it the Consumer ID. Lost the bill? Call TESCO at 091-111-786-786 and give your district address or meter number.

Which districts does TESCO cover?

TESCO covers all 7 merged tribal districts of KP (formerly FATA): Khyber (Landi Kotal, Bara, Jamrud), Bajaur (Khar), Mohmand (Gharlanai), Kurram (Parachinar, Sadda), Orakzai (Kalaya), North Waziristan (Miranshah, Mir Ali) and South Waziristan (Wana, Ladha). All other KP districts are under PESCO or HAZECO.

What is the TESCO helpline number?

TESCO customer helpline: 091-111-786-786 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). For power faults anywhere in the merged tribal districts: 118 — 24 hours, 7 days. Official TESCO website: tesco.com.pk.

What is the difference between TESCO and PESCO?

Both serve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PESCO covers the 25 settled KP districts — Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Dir, Chitral, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan and others. TESCO covers only the 7 merged tribal districts (formerly FATA) — Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. District decides your DISCO.

Can I pay my TESCO bill online from outside the tribal district?

Yes. JazzCash, EasyPaisa, Raast and all bank apps support TESCO payment from anywhere in Pakistan. Open the app → Bill Payments → Electricity → TESCO → enter your 14-digit reference number → confirm → pay. Payment reflects in 2-4 hours. You don't need to be in the tribal district.

What is FAC on my TESCO electricity bill?

FAC (Fuel Adjustment Charge) — also called FPA or FCA on other DISCO bills — is a monthly variable charge NEPRA sets based on actual grid fuel costs. In cold Kurram and Waziristan winters when electric heaters drive grid demand, it can add Rs. 500-1,800 to your bill. Track monthly values at our FPA Tracker.

Why does my TESCO bill check show "no record found"?

Usually a digit error in the reference number — recheck all 14 digits. If correct, the bill may not be generated yet — TESCO reads meters on a rolling schedule across 7 districts. Try again in 5-7 days. New connections in TESCO's system can take up to 8-10 weeks to appear online as the DISCO is still building out its digital infrastructure.

How do I file a TESCO billing complaint?

Call TESCO at 091-111-786-786 with your reference number. For billing disputes, take your meter photo and reference number to your local TESCO subdivision office. If unresolved within 30 days, file at NEPRA's consumer complaint portal. Pay the bill first — withholding payment adds a 10% surcharge to an existing dispute.

Is echeckbills.pk the official TESCO website?

No. echeckbills.pk is an independent third-party tool — not affiliated with TESCO or any government agency. We fetch billing data from Pakistan's official PITC gateway using your reference number, the same source JazzCash and HBL use. We don't store your reference number or personal data. The official TESCO portal is tesco.com.pk.
