PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) distributes electricity across all settled districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Around 4 million consumers — from Peshawar city to the Chitral valley, from Swat to DI Khan — get their monthly bills through PESCO. Every one is checkable online in seconds at Pesco Bill Check.

PESCO Bill Check Online Duplicate Bill & Reference Number 2026 — Official Duplicate Bill Sample

PESCO covers all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — from Peshawar and Mardan to Swat, Dir, Chitral and beyond. It's Pakistan's largest DISCO by geographic area.

What is PESCO?

PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) is a government-owned DISCO under PEPCO and NEPRA. It separated from WAPDA in 1998 as part of Pakistan's power sector restructuring. By geographic area, PESCO covers more territory than any other DISCO in Pakistan — distributing electricity across 25+ settled districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from the Peshawar valley in the east to Chitral's mountain passes in the north.

That geographic spread is also the source of PESCO's biggest challenge. Serving densely populated cities like Peshawar and Mardan alongside remote mountainous districts like Chitral, Kohistan and Upper Dir requires an infrastructure that stretches across terrain few other Pakistani utilities face. Load shedding frequency and billing cycles vary significantly between Peshawar city and rural KP districts.

PESCO's customer helpline is 091-111-000-020 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). For power faults across any KP district, call 118 — 24 hours. The official PESCO portal is pesco.com.pk. To check and download your bill for free without portal slowdowns, use Pesco Bill Check.

How to check your PESCO bill online — 4 steps

You need one thing: the 14-digit reference number from any printed PESCO bill. That's it. No account, no password, no app to download.

Step 01

Open the PESCO bill check portal

Any browserMobile and desktopWorks on 2G

Go to Pesco Bill Check. Nothing to install or register. Works on any phone.

Why echeckbills.pk stays fastpesco.com.pk experiences heavy concurrent traffic from Peshawar and Mardan consumers between 10am and 2pm — especially in the 5 days before monthly due dates. echeckbills.pk uses server-side caching on top of the official PITC gateway and stays fast through that window. Same official data, better speed.

Works fine on 2G. Useful for consumers in Chitral, Upper Dir, Kohistan and other remote KP areas where mobile network quality is limited. The page is lightweight by design.

Step 02

Enter your 14-digit PESCO reference number

Only required field

Type your reference number exactly as printed. One wrong digit returns no result — or pulls up a completely different account.

Where to find itTop-right corner of any printed PESCO bill, labeled "Reference No." or "Ref. No." — exactly 14 digits, usually starting with 0. Also printed above the barcode at the bottom of the bill slip. Some older PESCO formats call it the Consumer ID.

Lost the bill? Call PESCO at 091-111-000-020. Give your meter number or full address — Peshawar area, Mardan district, Swat locality — and they'll pull your reference number while you're on the call.

Step 03

Click Check Bill — results in under 5 seconds

Live PITC dataReal-time billing

Your full PESCO bill loads: consumer name, address, units consumed, current charges, arrears, due date and the after-due-date amount with 10% penalty already calculated.

Screenshot immediately. WhatsApp it to a family member near a payment counter in Peshawar, Mardan or any KP city. Most PESCO franchises in larger KP cities now accept the PDF shown on a phone screen. In smaller towns like Timergara, Chitral or Dir, a printed copy is safer.

Step 04

Download your free duplicate bill PDF

Free — unlimited copiesAccepted at all payment points

Click "Download Duplicate Bill." Print-ready PDF generates in seconds. Zero cost, no limit on copies.

Printing across KPAny photocopy shop in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan or any KP district charges Rs. 5-10 per page. Black-and-white print is accepted at all PESCO franchises, banks, post offices and Nadra e-Sahulat centers. The "Duplicate" header changes nothing at the counter.

For remote KP areas where printing is harder, save the PDF to your phone and show it at the counter. Most urban PESCO franchises across KP accept digital copies in 2026.

What your PESCO bill actually shows

The online bill gives you more than just the total. Here's every field — including the ones that catch KP consumers most by surprise.

  • Consumer Name and Address — confirms you pulled the right account. Check this first if managing multiple PESCO connections across different KP districts.

  • Reference Number (Consumer ID) — your 14-digit account identifier. Stays the same for the lifetime of the connection. Printed again on the downloaded PDF for payment counter use.

  • Billing month — which month this bill covers. PESCO reads meters on a rolling weekly cycle across 25+ districts. Peshawar city areas get bills in week 1-2. Chitral and Upper Dir can lag to week 4.

  • Previous and current meter readings — actual kWh figures. Subtract one from the other to verify your units. If the gap looks wrong, photograph your meter before calling PESCO.

  • Units consumed — the single number that determines your NEPRA tariff slab. Every other charge flows from this.

  • Energy charges — base cost before taxes. What NEPRA's per-unit slab rate applies to.

  • FAC (Fuel Adjustment Charge) — changes every month based on Pakistan's grid fuel mix and LNG import prices. In summer months when the national grid runs on expensive imported fuel, FAC can add Rs. 600-2,500 to a bill that looks normal otherwise. Track current FAC values at our FPA Tracker.

  • NJ Surcharge (Neelum Jhelum) — Rs. 0.10-0.35 per unit on every PESCO bill. Collected to repay Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project financing. Most KP consumers see the line item but don't know what it means.

  • FC Surcharge (Financing Cost) — a per-unit charge covering power sector debt. Appears on every PESCO bill as a separate line item set by NEPRA.

  • Electricity Duty (KP) — a KP provincial tax on electricity charges.

  • GST at 17% — applied on electricity charges across all DISCOs. No residential exemptions.

  • TV Licence Fee — Rs. 35 per month on every residential bill regardless of TV ownership.

  • Arrears — any unpaid balance from previous months carried forward.

  • Total payable amount — what you actually owe. Everything above combined.

  • Due date — pay before this to avoid the 10% late surcharge.

  • After-due-date amount — total with 10% late penalty already calculated and printed.

The FAC is the figure most Peshawar and Mardan consumers don't plan for. NEPRA announces it monthly but nothing individual notifies consumers — it just appears on the bill. In a hot KP summer when the national grid burns expensive imported LNG, the FAC alone can match the base energy charge on a high-consumption bill. Bookmark our FPA Tracker to see each month's figure before the bill arrives.

What is a PESCO duplicate bill?

A duplicate bill is a reprint of your current PESCO electricity bill. Same reference number, same billing month, same amounts, same due date. PESCO generates it from its database the moment you click download at Pesco Bill Check.

Every bank, PESCO franchise, Nadra e-Sahulat center and post office across KP that accepts PESCO bills accepts a printed duplicate. The "Duplicate" header changes nothing at the counter — it's a fully valid payment instrument.

You can print it as many times as you need — no limit on copies. For previous billing months, visit your PESCO subdivision office with your reference number. Their internal system holds billing history going back several years.

Online payments take up to 4 hours. Paying on the due date morning risks a bank maintenance window pushing you into the 10% late surcharge. Paying arrears and current bill together

If your PESCO bill shows arrears from a previous month, use the Total Payable or After Due Date amount — both already include arrears. Partial payments clear arrears first. Always pay the full total to avoid a carry-forward on your next bill.

Districts covered by PESCO — and which aren't

PESCO covers all settled districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If your address is in any KP settled district, your electricity bill is a PESCO bill. But two important exceptions confuse many consumers.

⚠ Important: PESCO does NOT cover Hazara division or tribal districtsHazara division (Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Battagram, Kohistan Upper, Kohistan Lower and Torghar) is served by HAZECO — a separate DISCO. The 7 merged tribal districts (Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan, South Waziristan) are served by TESCO. Check your bill at Hazeco Bill Check or Tesco Bill Check if your address is in these areas.

PESCO electricity tariff slabs — 2026

PESCO uses NEPRA's nationwide residential tariff. When you cross a slab boundary, the higher rate applies to ALL your units for that month — not just the extra ones. ⚠ These are base energy rates only — your real PESCO bill is higher

Your actual bill also adds: FAC (monthly, Rs. 600-2,500 in summer) + NJ Surcharge + FC Surcharge + Electricity Duty + GST 17% + Rs. 35 TV licence + fixed charges. Track monthly FAC at our FPA Tracker. Estimate your complete total at our bill calculator.

The slab crossover from 200 to 201 units is where most Peshawar and Mardan households take the biggest hit. In a KP summer with ceiling fans running 16 hours a day and an AC running 8 hours, crossing 200 is easy. Going from 198 to 215 units costs Rs. 900-1,400 more at base tariff before the FAC. Those 17 extra units are very easy to miss in the middle of a hot July.

How to file a PESCO billing complaint

Billing errors, meter reading disputes and overcharging complaints are common across PESCO's vast geographic network. The process is straightforward.

⚡ Step-by-step: filing a PESCO billing complaint

Step 1 — Call PESCO first. Dial 091-111-000-020 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). Give your 14-digit reference number and describe the issue — overcharging, meter reading error, wrong consumer category or unexplained charge. Note the complaint number they assign you.

Step 2 — Visit your subdivision office. If the call doesn't resolve it, take your meter photo and reference number to your local PESCO subdivision office in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat or your district. Staff can access billing history and raise a correction on the spot.

Step 3 — Escalate to NEPRA. If PESCO doesn't resolve your complaint within 30 days, file formally at NEPRA's consumer complaint portal at nepra.org.pk. NEPRA can compel PESCO to respond and issue corrections.

Always pay first, dispute second. Withholding payment adds the 10% late surcharge to an existing dispute — creating two problems instead of one. Pay the bill, keep your receipt, then file the dispute.

PESCO load shedding complaints

For extended unscheduled outages anywhere in KP, call the 24-hour fault line: 118. PESCO's load shedding schedules by KP division and district are published on the official pesco.com.pk portal — check there for your area's weekly schedule.

Common errors and how to fix them

Error: "No record found"

Two causes. A digit error in the reference number — recheck all 14 digits carefully. Or the current month's bill hasn't been generated yet. PESCO reads meters on a rolling weekly cycle across 25+ districts. Peshawar city areas get bills in week 1-2. Chitral and Upper Dir rural areas can lag to week 4. If the number is correct, wait 5-7 days and try again at Pesco Bill Check.

New connection in a developing KP area?

New PESCO meter registrations can take 6-8 weeks to appear online — especially in newly developed areas of Peshawar's suburbs, Hayatabad Phase 8-onwards or new housing schemes in Mardan and Swabi. Contact your PESCO subdivision with the meter number to confirm registration status before assuming something is wrong.

I paid but my bill still shows outstanding

Online payments take 2-4 hours to reflect in PESCO's system. Wait 6 hours then recheck. If still outstanding after 24 hours, contact your bank first with the transaction reference number, then call PESCO at 091-111-000-020 with both your 14-digit reference number and the bank transaction ID.

Portal not loading or timing out

pesco.com.pk experiences heavy traffic between 10am and 2pm on weekdays. Try before 9am or after 9pm. Or use Pesco Bill Check — it uses server-side caching and stays fast even when the official portal slows down.

8 ways to lower your PESCO bill

  • Set AC at 26°C — not lower — each degree below 26°C adds roughly 8% to the AC's power draw. Running at 20°C instead of 26°C in a hot Peshawar summer burns 48% more electricity for the same room. 24°C is the practical compromise most KP households use — cool enough to sleep, cheaper enough to matter.

  • Photograph your meter on the 1st and 15th — mid-cycle reading tells you your projected monthly total with 2 weeks still to act. At 180 units on July 15 with a billing date of July 31, you know to reduce AC hours before crossing the 200-unit slab boundary. Once the bill is generated, those decisions are locked.

  • Stay under 200 units when possible — crossing from 200 to 201 units moves all your units to the higher slab rate. In Peshawar and Mardan where fans run 16 hours a day in summer, those extra 7-10 units come easily and cost Rs. 900-1,400 more at base tariff before the FAC.

  • Replace ceiling fans with inverter models — standard fans draw 80W. Inverter fans draw 28-35W. Run 4 fans 16 hours a day across KP's long hot season and save roughly 34 units per month. In the 201-300 slab that's Rs. 476 saved monthly at base tariff, every month, for a one-time upgrade cost.

  • Switch to an inverter AC — an inverter AC cuts power consumption by 40-60% versus a conventional unit at the same cooling output. For Peshawar consumers in the 301-700 unit slab at Rs. 20.17/unit, this is the biggest single bill reduction available. Payback on the price difference is typically 2-3 years.

  • Apply for PESCO net metering — PESCO accepts net metering applications for solar panel installations. Peshawar and the KP plains receive strong year-round solar irradiance. A 5kW system can reduce annual electricity costs by Rs. 60,000-100,000 for heavy consumers. Apply through NEPRA's net metering portal.

  • Replace all bulbs with LEDs — a 100W incandescent versus a 9W LED running 8 hours daily saves roughly 25 units per month per bulb. Replace 4 bulbs and save 100 units — the gap between the first and second tariff slabs for a light-usage KP household.

  • Pay 2 days before the due date — every month — a 10% late surcharge on a Rs. 5,000-9,000 KP summer bill is Rs. 500-900 wasted for a short delay. JazzCash is free and takes 3 minutes. Set a recurring phone reminder the moment you read this — before this tab closes.
