The physical bill is missing. Due date is this week. You don't know the amount. This guide gets you sorted in 10 minutes — reference number, live bill check, duplicate PDF, payment. No office trip, no waiting.
The short answer
You don't need the paper bill to check, download or pay your electricity bill in Pakistan. You need the 14-digit reference number. And if you've lost the paper bill, there are 3 ways to get that number.
Once you have it, go to echeckbills.pk, select your DISCO, enter the number and your full bill appears in under 5 seconds. Download the duplicate PDF free. Pay via JazzCash or EasyPaisa. Done.
The rest of this guide goes deeper: what the reference number is, how to get it for MEPCO, LESCO, IESCO or any of the 11 Pakistan DISCOs, and how to make sure this never stresses you out again.
Lost Your Electricity Bill? Check It Without the Paper 2026
What is a reference number and where else can you find it?
Every electricity connection in Pakistan has a 14-digit reference number. It's printed at the top-right corner of every electricity bill, labeled "Reference No." or "Ref. No." — and it never changes. The same 14 digits appear on every bill for the lifetime of that meter connection.
So even a bill from 6 months ago has the number you need right now. Before you make any calls, check these 3 places.
Old physical bills — check drawers, folders, the spot where documents pile up at home. One old bill from any month gives you the reference number for today's bill. The number is always the same.
JazzCash or EasyPaisa payment history — if you've ever paid digitally, open the app and check your payment history. The reference number appears on every electricity payment receipt. It's right there under "Bill Payment Details."
HBL, MCB or any bank app transaction history — same logic. Every electricity bill payment in your banking app history shows the reference number used.
If all 3 come up empty, you call the helpline. That's Section 3.
Screenshot the number now
The moment you find your reference number, screenshot it and save it in your phone's Notes app. Label it clearly — "MEPCO ref number" or "LESCO ref 14 digits." Two minutes of work prevents this entire problem next time.
How to get your reference number by calling your DISCO
Every DISCO in Pakistan will give you your reference number over the phone. The process takes about 3-5 minutes. Here's exactly what happens.
Step 01
Call your DISCO's helpline
Mon-Sat 8am-8pmFree call
Find your DISCO's number in the helpline table in Section 7 below. Call MEPCO if you're in south Punjab, LESCO if you're in Lahore, IESCO if you're in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.
Not sure which DISCO you're on?Your address decides your DISCO. Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, RY Khan area is MEPCO. Lahore is LESCO. Islamabad and Rawalpindi is IESCO. Faisalabad is FESCO. Gujranwala is GEPCO. Peshawar and KP is PESCO. Full coverage table is in Section 11.
For power outages, call 118 from any area — 24 hours a day. The helpline numbers below are for billing queries, not faults.
Step 02
Tell them your meter number or full address
Have this ready
The agent will ask for your meter number (printed on your meter box) or your complete address. Give whichever you have.
Meter number vs reference numberThese are 2 different things. The meter number is on the physical meter box attached to your wall. The reference number is on the paper bill. Online portals need the reference number, not the meter number — but calling the helpline with the meter number gets you the reference number in seconds.
If you give your address, be specific. House number, street, block, area name. In large cities like Lahore or Peshawar, vague addresses waste time on the call.
Step 03
Note down the 14-digit reference number
Write it, don't memorise it
The agent reads your reference number over the phone. It's 14 digits. Write it down or type it into your phone notes immediately. Read it back to confirm.
What to do with it nextGo to echeckbills.pk, select your DISCO, paste or type the reference number, click Check Bill. Your complete bill appears — consumer name, units consumed, amount, due date, arrears. Download the duplicate PDF free. Pay online or at any counter.
Save the number in your contacts under "MEPCO bill ref" or similar. You'll use it every month if you switch to online checking — which you should, because this is the last time the lost-bill problem exists.
How to check your bill online after getting the reference number
Go to echeckbills.pk. Select your DISCO from the grid on the homepage — MEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, PESCO or any other. Enter the 14-digit reference number. Click Check Bill.
Under 5 seconds. Your full bill loads: consumer name, billing address, units consumed, energy charges, Fuel Adjustment Charge, GST, TV licence fee, arrears, due date and after-due-date amount with the 10% penalty already calculated.
The data comes directly from Pakistan's PITC gateway — the same official source JazzCash, EasyPaisa and HBL Internet Banking all use when you pay your electricity bill. It's the same bill. There's no intermediary.
The portal works on any phone, any browser. It loads on 3G. echeckbills.pk uses server-side caching, so it stays fast even when official DISCO websites slow down between 10am and 2pm — which they do, consistently, on weekdays.
How to download a free duplicate bill PDF
After your bill loads, click "Download Duplicate Bill." A print-ready PDF of your current electricity bill generates instantly. Free. No limit on how many copies you print.
It says "Duplicate" at the top. That changes nothing at any payment counter in Pakistan. Every bank, MEPCO franchise, LESCO office, IESCO payment center, Nadra e-Sahulat agent and post office that accepts electricity bills accepts a printed duplicate. This is standard practice. The staff process them daily.
Print in black-and-white
Color printing costs more for no reason. Black-and-white is accepted everywhere. Any photocopy shop across Pakistan charges Rs. 5-10 per page. Print one copy for the payment counter and keep one for your records.
If you can't print, most DISCO franchises in urban areas — Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar — now accept the PDF shown on a phone screen. In smaller towns, printing is safer. Call your local franchise ahead to confirm if you're unsure.
How to pay without the paper bill
You don't need the paper bill to pay. You need the 14-digit reference number. Here are 3 ways to pay right now from your phone, all free.
Method 01
Pay via JazzCash
Free2-4 hours to reflect
Open JazzCash. Tap Bill Payments. Select Electricity. Choose your DISCO. Enter your 14-digit reference number. Confirm the amount. Tap Pay.
Amount verificationThe amount JazzCash shows matches what echeckbills.pk shows — both pull from the same PITC source. Check first at echeckbills.pk if you want to see the full breakdown before paying. Then pay via JazzCash.
JazzCash bill payment is genuinely free — Rs. 0 service fee. Payment reflects in the DISCO system in 2-4 hours. Your next bill check will show Rs. 0 arrears.
Method 02
Pay via EasyPaisa
Free2-4 hours to reflect
Open EasyPaisa. Tap Utilities. Select Electricity. Choose your DISCO. Enter the 14-digit reference number. Confirm. Pay.
Same process as JazzCash. Also free. Also reflects in 2-4 hours. Use whichever app you already have active and funded.
Method 03
Pay via Raast or any bank app
FreeInstant via Raast
Any SBP bank app — HBL, Meezan Bank, MCB, Bank Alfalah, UBL — supports electricity bill payment. Go to Bill Payments, select your DISCO, enter the reference number. Raast processes instantly.
Meezan Bank's M-Net app and Bank Alfalah's mobile banking both support all 11 Pakistan DISCOs. No service fee. Payment confirmation arrives by SMS within minutes.
Pay 2 days before the due date
Online payments take up to 4 hours. Paying on the due date morning risks a bank maintenance window pushing you into the 10% late surcharge. On a Rs. 6,000 bill that's Rs. 600 gone. Pay now, while this tab is open.

MEPCO — if you've lost your south Punjab electricity bill
MEPCO covers 13 south Punjab districts: Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, Layyah, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan. Around 7.6 million consumers.
Call 061-111-000-020. Give your meter number or full south Punjab address. Once you have the 14-digit reference number, check your bill at echeckbills.pk/mepco-bill-check.
MEPCO reads meters on a rolling weekly cycle. If your bill isn't appearing online yet, it's likely still being generated — Multan and Bahawalpur city areas get bills in week 1-2, but Layyah and rural Rajanpur areas can lag to week 4. Wait 5-7 days and try again.
Also worth knowing: if you search "WAPDA bill Multan" or "WAPDA bill Bahawalpur" — MEPCO is the WAPDA successor for south Punjab. Same meters, same consumers, new name since 1998.
LESCO — if you've lost your Lahore electricity bill
LESCO covers Lahore city (all sectors — Gulberg, DHA, Model Town, Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Bahria Town, Cantt) plus Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib districts. Around 5.6 million consumers.
Call 042-111-000-020. Give your full Lahore address — sector, street, area. Once you have the reference number, check your bill at echeckbills.pk/lesco-bill-check.
Gulberg and DHA areas get bills in week 1 of LESCO's billing cycle. Raiwind, Sundar and outer Lahore areas can lag to week 3-4. If the portal shows no record and your reference number is definitely right, wait 5 days.
IESCO — if you've lost your Islamabad or Rawalpindi electricity bill
IESCO covers all Islamabad sectors (F, G, H, I, E, D), Bahria Town Islamabad, the whole of Rawalpindi (including Taxila, Gujar Khan, Murree, Wah Cantt), plus Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum districts.
Call 051-111-000-020. Give your Islamabad sector address or Rawalpindi locality. Check your bill at echeckbills.pk/iesco-bill-check after getting the reference number.
Islamabad city sectors get bills in week 1-2. Chakwal and Jhelum rural areas can lag to week 4. The official IESCO portal is iesco.com.pk, though it slows during peak hours — echeckbills.pk stays faster through that window.
FESCO, GEPCO, PESCO and all other DISCOs
Every DISCO follows the same process. Call the helpline. Get the reference number. Check online. Download the duplicate. Pay digitally.

How to never lose a bill again
The paper bill is optional. It has been since 2019 when PITC made real-time billing data available through third-party portals like echeckbills.pk.
Here's the 2-step system that removes paper bills from your life entirely.
Save your 14-digit reference number now — put it in your phone contacts under "MEPCO ref" or "LESCO ref 14 digit." Label it with your address so you don't confuse it with another property. The number is yours for the life of that meter.
Bookmark echeckbills.pk on your phone — on the 15th of each month, check your meter reading at home and enter it into our free bill calculator to estimate where you'll land at the end of the month. On or around the billing date, open echeckbills.pk, enter the reference number, check the actual bill and pay via JazzCash. The paper bill becomes irrelevant.
Check the FPA before calculating — the FPA Tracker publishes the monthly Fuel Adjustment Charge for all 11 DISCOs. Enter it into the bill calculator for an accurate estimate. Summer FPA can add Rs. 600-2,500 to a bill that looks normal at base tariff rates.
Set a JazzCash payment reminder 2 days before due date — phone calendar. 2 minutes. Saves Rs. 500-900 in late payment surcharges every summer.
Frequently asked questions
Lost electricity bill — questions answered
How can I check my electricity bill if I lost the paper bill?
Check your bill online at echeckbills.pk. You need your 14-digit reference number. If you've lost the paper, the reference number is the same on every old bill you have, in your JazzCash payment history, or from your DISCO helpline when you give your meter number or address.
How do I find my electricity reference number without a bill?
3 ways: (1) Call your DISCO helpline and give your meter number or full address — they'll pull the reference number. MEPCO: 061-111-000-020. LESCO: 042-111-000-020. IESCO: 051-111-000-020. (2) Check your JazzCash or EasyPaisa payment history — the reference number appears on every electricity payment receipt. (3) Find any old electricity bill — even one from 2 years ago — the reference number stays the same forever.
Can I pay my electricity bill if I've lost the paper copy?
Yes. Pay via JazzCash, EasyPaisa, Raast or any bank app using just your 14-digit reference number. You don't need the physical bill at all. All are free except 1-Link ATM (Rs. 20). Payment reflects in 2-4 hours.
What is the MEPCO helpline number to get my reference number?
MEPCO helpline: 061-111-000-020 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). Give your meter number or full south Punjab address — Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan, Sahiwal or any MEPCO district. They'll pull your 14-digit reference number from their system.
What is the LESCO helpline number to get my reference number?
LESCO helpline: 042-111-000-020 (Mon-Sat, 8am-8pm). Give your full Lahore address — area name, sector, street. They'll provide your 14-digit LESCO reference number. Then check your bill at echeckbills.pk/lesco-bill-check.
Does the reference number change every month?
No. The 14-digit reference number stays the same for the entire lifetime of a meter connection. An old bill from 2 years ago has the same reference number as your current bill. It's your permanent account ID with your DISCO.
Can I check my electricity bill using my meter number directly?
The meter number doesn't work in online portals — you need the 14-digit reference number. But you can use the meter number to get the reference number: call your DISCO helpline, give the meter number, and they'll look it up for you.
How do I download a duplicate electricity bill in Pakistan?
Go to echeckbills.pk, select your DISCO, enter your 14-digit reference number, click Check Bill, then click Download Duplicate Bill. Free PDF generates instantly. Print in black-and-white — accepted at all banks, DISCO franchises and Nadra e-Sahulat centers across Pakistan.
Is echeckbills.pk safe to use for checking bills?
Yes. echeckbills.pk fetches data directly from Pakistan's official PITC gateway using your reference number — the same source JazzCash and HBL Internet Banking use. We do not store your reference number or any personal data after your session ends. Bank-grade SSL on every request. We are an independent third-party tool, not affiliated with any DISCO or government body.
